The passion for speed and challenge
drew Tom into racing at a national/pro level in 1990.
He has 18 years experience racing in SCCA, KARTS, Star
Mazda and IMSA Lites with ALMS, F1, IRL, and NASCAR
at venues such as Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Road Atlanta,
Infineon, Road America, Elkhart Lake, Montreal, Sebring,
Mid-Ohio, Texas Motor Speedway, Portland, PIR, PPIR,
and Charlotte. Tom’s interest as a vintage car
collector and driver has found him racing for the past
6 years in a GT40 at famous tracks like Watkins Glen,
Laguna Seca, Road America, and Daytona. Internationally,
Tom has experienced speed at the Goodwood Festival
of Speed and the Revival in the UK, Spa-Francorchamps,
LeMans Classic, and Old Timers at Nurburgring.
Mr. Mabey is licensed as a professional engineer and
general contractor in several states in the western
United States. Currently as owner and CEO of Sahara,
Inc., Mr. Mabey has been actively involved in commercial
construction projects both large and small. This experience
includes working with public and private funding sources;
city, county state and federal regulators; dealing
with environmental issues and project planning; obtaining
government approvals; project organization and documentation;
scheduling; and budgeting.
Thomas C. Mabey was the owner and
president of Sahara, Inc. since it was first organized
in 1985. In 2001, Mr. Mabey became Chairman and in
2004, he stepped into the role of president and CEO
once again. He also founded and successfully operated
The Consortium, a civil engineering firm, for 14 years
until it was sold to a large Utah based company. He
was also a finalist for the prestigious Utah Entrepreneur
of the Year.

Project Experience
Principal in Charge of the $100,000,000+ Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah. The road racing track includes a 2.24 mile and 14 turn east course, a 2.2 mile long and 12 turn west course, a .89 mile kart track and supporting buildings including Race Control, a clubhouse and 24 Grand Prix Garages. This is the longest road-racing track in North America. The project includes 20 support buildings.
Principal in Charge of the $110,000,000 Jordan Commons project which includes office buildings, parking structures, retail, restaurant and theater facilities.
Principal in Charge on the construction of the $22,500,000 Franklin Quest Field, a state of the art baseball stadium which accommodates about 15,000 people. This fast-track project was completed in a record-breaking 10 months and 16 days.
Project Principal on the completion of the $70,000,000 Delta Center, a 22,000 seat multi-purpose arena and the home of the Utah Jazz and the Salt Lake Golden Eagles, in only 15 months and 24 days. This project was successfully completed using construction management and general contracting techniques combined with fast track and design build delivery systems.
Project Manager on the $15,000,000 million Delta Center Tenant Improvements and Municipal Plaza which was a fast track, design build project which was completed on time, and within budget.
